Zahirians in UAE participated in inaugural TCK Super 8s Cricket & Rugby Tournament organized by the UAE Old Boys' Association of Trinity College, Kandy which was held on 12th December, 2008 at Sharjah Wanderers RFC Grounds.
Apart from Zahira, four other teams participated in the tournament (Trinity, St. Peters, Mahanama and Isipathana).
The Zahira Cricketers led by Muhsin Firaz emerged as the Champions after a splendid display. Further, Man of the Tournament was awarded to a Zahirian namely Azmi for his brilliant knocks in the tournament. The path to the finals as follows:
Match 1 – Zahira beat Mahanama by 6 wickets.
Match 2 – Zahira beat St. Peters by 58 runs.
Match 3 – Zahira beat Isipathana by 5 wickets.
Match 4 – Zahira beat Trinity by 42 runs.
And in the Finals Zahira beat Mahanama by 28 runs, thus maintaining an unbeaten record.
The Ruggerites were led by Imran Marso. Zahira were placed third in the points ranking. The results of the Rugby matches as follows:
Match 1 – Zahira lost to St. Peters (33-7).
Match 2 – Zahira drew with Mahanama (14 all).
Match 3 – Zahira beat Trinity (21-0).
Match 4 – Zahira beat Isipathana (28-0).
